MEMBERSHIP FAQs

Q. What are your facility hours?
A. 712i is open 24hrs per day and 7 days a week for our members. Staff are typically available Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm, however members hold a key-card that allows them access 24×7.
       
Q. How old do I have to be to join?
A. Currently, you must be 18 years of age at the time of joining the space.
        
Q. Can children come with me?
A. Yes, however our rules specifically require that you keep all minors under your active supervision. Our facility is NOT well suited for children that are not comfortable staying within 25 inches of their adult at all times.
       
Q. Do I have to be a Shawnee County Resident to use your space?
A. No. We welcome all US citizens with a social security number as members.
        
Q. How long is your membership contract?
A. There is no contract - membership can be month by month.   We do not obligate our members to belong for any amount of time. Members may turn on and off their access, for full months at a time, with notice to our staff.
        
Q. Do you provide training for your equipment?
A. YES! Infact, much of our larger equipment requires members to attend special safety and training courses before being allowed to use it. Besides the space and tools, our MEMBERS are the most valuable resource in our space. Asking others to share their knowledge is encouraged, and always met with a positive answer.
              
Q. Do I have to be a member to visit your space, or participate in events?
A. No. Our members may welcome anyone as a visitor – with limits of up to 3 people without giving us prior notice. Additionally, we offer tours if you’d like to check out what we have to offer, before joining. ONLY Members may use our equipment or resources while in our space, and all visitors MUST sign into our guest book completely.
        
Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. We accept cash, checks, credit cards, PayPal transfers, and ACH/EFT/Wires. ALL MEMBERS MUST PROVIDE BANK INFORMATION FOR AUTOMATIC DRAFTING OF CHARGES. Our system will ONLY draft charges if they are not paid via another method.
        
Q. Do you have [equipment]? Will you get one?
A. We have such a large list of equipment that its difficult to maintain an accurate list on our website, however we DO purchase equipment for our members as funds allow it. We only purchase equipment that can be used by multiple members, and is not CONSUMABLE in nature, or subject to high wear and tear.
        
Q. Will you partner with my organization for an event / grant application / fundraiser / competition / etc?
A. We LOVE partnering with people who want to do things!
        
Q. Will you give my employees a discount to join 712i?
A. In general, no – however you MAY join as a corporate member and receive a SIGNIFICANT discount on membership rates for your staff. Because of the difficulty of administering accounts, we simply require a single payor for your employee accounts. If you choose to charge employees, that’s your business.
      
Q. Are you an IRS recognized, 501(c)3 charitable organization?
A. Yes, we are a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce  Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 organization – and can provide documentation to make your donation deductible as a charitable contribution.
